Author Biography

Denene has been a lover of books, reading and learning since elementary school. She is a practicing shaman, with a background in Drama instruction, Massage Therapy, Angel Intuition and Bodytalk. Writing this book was a wonderful, alchemical process for Denene, magically tying together much of what she has learned since “falling out of the ordinary” herself in 2001. Her curiosity about the true cause of disease, and her search for fulfillment and meaning in life led her to study Shamanism with Marv and Shanon Harwood, of the Kimmapii School of Shamanism, where she continues to study and assist, working toward the goal of teaching shamanism. Denene loves to speak about Shamanism, Peru, and Ayni. Her and her partner/husband Nicholas Jones share a shamanic practice in Calgary.

Denene has three amazing kids, and her and her family are enthusiastic supporters of Kimmapii Kids, a Canadian Charity that hand delivers satchels of school supplies to financially challenged kids in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Getting to know the people of Peru, and working with the Q’ero shamans has been one of the highlights of her life. This is Denene’s first book, though the inklings of another story have begun to pop up here and there.
